What are Executive Function Skills?

The term “Executive Functioning” is getting a lot of buzz these days, but what does it mean? It is often defined as the brain-based skills needed for an individual to execute and complete a task. These skills include working memory, response inhibition, time management, planning/prioritizing, emotional control, metacognition, sustained attention, organization, goal-directed persistence, task initiation, and flexibility. Children, teens, and even adults can have challenges in several of these areas which make school, work, and other areas of life difficult.  To read more about these skills, click HERE.
