Amanda Strine, Psy.D.

 

Dr. Amanda Strine is the Director of the Center for Educational Services.  She earned her Bachelor of Arts at Lehigh University and her Doctorate of Psychology from Widener University.  For over nineteen years, she has worked for the Center for Psychological Services, conducting evaluations of children for school admissions, gifted education, behavioral concerns, and learning differences. She also provides consultations with parents and students to help guide school placement, keeping in mind the educational and emotional needs of the individuals. In her role as CES director, Amanda works with parents and clients to find the best tutor match for the student according to his/her challenges.  She is committed to provide outstanding tutorial services to the community in order to enhance learning and growth.

Sarah Franzel, M.S.

Sarah Franzel is a math teacher and Learning Specialist. She graduated from the University of Michigan with a degree in mathematics and certification in math education. She also earned a master’s degree in Counseling Psychology from Education School at California State University East Bay. Sarah has over 25 years of experience as an academic coach and tutor, and has over 10 years of experience as a classroom teacher.

Sarah currently works at The Crefeld School, where she has taught math for several years and is now currently serving as a learning specialist for 11th and 12th graders. She has experience working with all levels of learners, including students with mild learning disabilities and anxiety disorders, and in all academic subjects including areas of executive functioning. Additionally she is experienced in preparing students in math for the SAT and ACT.

Sarah enjoys working one-on-one with students to connect with each individual and help bring out their full learning potential. She works to create a warm, collaborative relationship with a student and his or her parents and teachers.

Daryl Falco, M.S.

Daryl is an engaging teacher who strives to instill in his students an appreciation and enthusiasm for mathematics while bolstering their confidence in the subject. He earned his B.A. in Mathematics from Duke University and holds M.S. degrees in both Mathematics and Computer Science from Drexel University. He has been a professor in Drexel’s Department of Mathematics since 2006, where he teaches a variety of classes, including algebra, calculus, discrete mathematics, and business math. In 2012, he was recognized by the university with the Barbara Hornum Award for Teaching Excellence. Outside of the classroom, Daryl holds hours at Drexel’s Math Resource Center. There he works with students from all majors, answering questions, strengthening fundamentals, and assisting with exam preparations. When not teaching, Daryl enjoys reading, watching college basketball, and introducing his daughter to his board game collection.

Jennifer Bryan-McCullin, M.Ed.

Jennifer has a Master’s degree in Special Education and a certificate in Behavior Analysis.  She has taught for 15 years in learning support grades 1-4 and 9-11 and emotional support grades 6-12 for the Delaware County IU, Hatboro-Horsham, and (currently) Lower Merion.  In her current teaching role, she provides direct instruction in executive functioning and coping strategies for stress and anxiety.  Jennifer prides herself on building a strong rapport with her students in order to build their confidence and support their learning needs.

Marilyn Golden, M.Ed.

Marilyn Golden Photo Marilyn’s experience includes teaching reading and English from elementary through college levels and gifted education at the elementary level. She completed both her undergraduate degree in secondary English and Master’s Degree in Psychology of Reading at Temple University.  Marilyn believes in the importance of developing and maintaining rapport with her students through positive communication.  Her areas of specialization are:  coaching Executive Functioning, SAT/ACT, strategic reading, writing college essays, and teaching gifted students with learning differences. If you are an adult learner, Marilyn can coach you on how to face and successfully navigate the daunting requirements of returning to school, changing careers, or passing standardized tests required for promotions or essential service positions.

Beth Levy, M.Ed.

Beth Levy began her career as an elementary-school teacher, focusing on kindergarten through third grades. Her elementary certification is from the University of Pennsylvania. Beth earned a masters degree and certification in reading (grades K-12) from Arcadia University and has been a reading specialist in an elementary school for 8 years. Trained in the Wilson Language Program and other literacy-based intervention programs, she works with children and adults of all ages. Beth has 22 years of experience teaching, 15 years of those as a reading specialist.

Linda Jarrett, M.Ed.

Linda has been teaching and coaching Executive Functions for over 20 years.  Understanding a student’s learning profile and appropriately sharing that information with the student allows them to begin to understand who they are as learners.  Knowing their challenges, whether that be anxiety, ADHD, learning or social, and their strengths, students are taught the most beneficial strategies and tools needed to be their best selves. This knowledge allows them to appropriately advocate for themselves, which is an important goal.

For the past 16 years Linda has been Center School’s Guidance Counselor teaching developmental guidance lessons on Mindfulness, Brain Plasticity, Grit and Growth Mindset while demystifying students so they can work toward their potential. 

Linda has a B.S.Ed. in Elementary and Special Education and a M.Ed. in School Guidance Counseling. She is trained in Mindful Schools curriculum and has taken various workshops to enhance her knowledge of Mindfulness that is passed onto students. Linda has taken courses in Responsive Classroom and has shared this during teacher workshops. She has thoroughly enjoyed teaching and coaching students from 4th grade through college. 

Outside of teaching, counseling and tutoring, her latest endeavor is combining Executive Functions with decluttering and downsizing, which is tailored to young adults and adults: Executive Functions meets (De)Clutter. 

Alicia Sussman, M.Ed.

Alicia Sussman serves as the Math Department Chair as well as the Math Learning Specialist at Kohelet Yeshiva High School. She holds an M.Ed. in secondary math education from St. Joseph’s University and a B.A. in Psychology from the University of Delaware. At Kohelet, Ms. Sussman teaches all levels of math and provides additional support in mathematics to learners who are struggling. Ms. Sussman previously taught middle and high school students at the Crefeld School for 10 years, where she additionally served as the Head of the Department of Mathematics. She tutors all levels of mathematics, as well as for the ACT.

 

 

 

 

Randi Rentz, M.Ed.

Randi Rentz is a special educator who has worked in the public school setting in Pennsylvania since 1993. She graduated from the University of Maryland with a B.S. and received her Master’s degree in Special Education from the Johns Hopkins University with an emphasis in the area of Autism.

She specializes in working with individuals of all ages, covering the life span, particularly those with the added challenges of Autism, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Executive Functioning deficits, Processing Disorders, Emotional Support, and Learning Support in the areas of Reading, Writing and Math,  In addition, Randi is a certified Wilson instructor, She is very experienced at developing, implementing and evaluating IEPs with related service providers, administrators, advocates, lawyers, doctors, paraprofessionals, psychologists, and parents.

As an Autistic Support Teacher and Learning Specialist, she created a researched–based Social Skills and Executive Functioning curriculum with program components including communication, behavior, and language and sensory strategies. The heart of her work is illuminating the often elusive and intangible world of Social Thinking, and developing practical strategies that can be easily used by parents, educators and service providers, across different environments She has also implemented, designed, and facilitated behavior management programs, academic interventions (all individualized), and has been trained in research-based reading and intervention programs which give her the ability to coach according to her clients’ capabilities.

Linda Qian, M.S.

Linda Qian graduated from UMass Amherst with bachelors degree in Mathematics and UPenn with masters degree in Secondary Education.  She works at the Crefeld School as a mathematics and Mandarin teacher, where she learns valuable professional skills such as special-needs instruction, classroom management, and curriculum development. In both her academic and professional life, she enjoys working with students from different backgrounds and maintains great relationships with all of her peers and students. Whether working on academic, extracurricular, or professional projects, she applies proven leadership, creative thinking, and organizational skills.

Stefanie Fox, M.A.

Stefanie Fox has been teaching Spanish for 8 years in the Upper Moreland School District, at both the Middle School and the High School. Stefanie graduated as a member of the honor society, Phi Beta Kappa, from Penn State University with degrees in both Spanish and World Languages Education (K-12), as well as a minor in International Studies. She then obtained a master’s degree in Hispanic Cultural Studies and a Teacher Leadership Certificate from Villanova University. Stefanie has been tutoring all levels of Spanish at CES for the past 4 years and looks forward to continuing to help students learn to love the Spanish language. NOTE: Currently, Stefanie only has availability during the summer months.

Laurie Clark, M.Ed.

Laurie is a certified Reading Specialist. She is also certified in English and Elementary Education and holds a Master’s Degree in teaching science. Having taught for 35 years on the elementary, middle school, and high school levels, both in public and private schools, Laurie works with all of her tutoring students to present and practice skills necessary for school success. An important part of her tutoring involves helping students develop self-confidence and supporting them as they become self-advocates in their particular school setting. Laurie enjoys building strong relationships with students and loves the tremendous wealth of school experiences her students bring to their tutoring sessions.

Ruth Joray, M.S.

Ruth Joray, M.S. (Chestnut Hill College; counseling psychology) has spent her professional life in independent schools, as a teacher, curriculum team coordinator, middle school team leader (The Shipley School), Head of School, administrative consultant, and learning support/executive function tutor at The Crefeld School. As Head of School at The Quaker School at Horsham, a school for children with complex learning profiles, she focused on identifying the student’s strengths and affinities to create an individualized, affirmative learning environment. With a BFA and art teaching certification from Rhode Island School of Design, Ruth is a creative problem solver who engages her students through their talents and interests. Driving her interventions, specifically with students who struggle with executive function challenges, is the belief that with appropriate support, anyone can develop more positive, satisfying work habits. The value of 1:1 tutoring is the relationship where students feel heard, respected, and hopeful.
