Math Instruction

Teachers certified in elementary, special education, and/or mathematics offer individual instruction to students who are struggling with math facts, fluency, calculation, and/or problem-solving skills. Math is the most challenging subject for some students due to its cumulative nature, meaning that it builds upon earlier concepts and previously mastered skills.  If students have not learned specific concepts, this creates gaps in their knowledge, which causes problems as concepts become more advanced in school.  This can cause decreased confidence and increased anxiety surrounding math.  Our instructors are sensitive to the developmental needs of students, and have devised strategies to appeal to the characteristics of each learner.  They assess the foundational knowledge of their clients, making sure that they have the proper building blocks to advance their skills while also increasing their confidence.  In addition, our tutors have the expertise to work with students in algebra, geometry, and calculus at every level, including high school and college.
